Last week we went to the newu institute.
An exhbit that caught my eye was the one titled ‘the environmentalist stock exchange’. It was an interactive stock exchange screen that imagined a world where natural resources were held in the same regard as capital.
That exhibit combined with our last visit in Dutch colonislm affecting native Americans made me think about how invasive colonization was been.
The devastating environmental outcome of genocide, new diseases and the biological warfare of invading a group of people who’s immune system can’t fight off forgein germs etc and enviormbal racism affecting respiratory health of poc here in America.
We then went downstairs to -1 art exhibit. The person who’s responsible for this is a black American immigrat to the Netherlands and spoke to me about the cultural transition.
One of the exhibits focused on understanding our data profile as a spiritual being separate from us.
The data profile that social media companies have on us, on some level reveals things about us that maybe we weren’t even conscious about.
Our personality, the personal habits we build up can’t all be fully understood by ourselves the way companies do.
I also picked up some Bulldog coffee shop apparel to commemorate my time here.
